Scott Kohl ’73 Contributes to Carroll’s Long-Term Success with Estate-Plan Gift

Scott Kohl ’73

Looking back upon my experience as a student at Carroll and another three years in the Admissions Office representing Carroll in the greater Chicago area, I have many inspirational and fun memories. As a prospective student and then as an enrolled student, I was impressed by the friendliness and energy of both the students and the professors that I encountered. Over the decades, through the many changes and growth that Carroll has undergone, it appears that the same spirit, enthusiasm, and sense of mission still exists. The expansion and beautification of campus facilities offer proof of this everywhere.

My three years in Admissions allowed and required me to gain greater insight into all of Carroll’s departments and inner workings. Getting to know the professors more closely and learning about their aspirations, passions, and accomplishments deepened my appreciation for Carroll. Though I have lived in the Atlanta area for the last few decades, many of my fellow graduates and I have managed to stay in touch. We have had very different but successful career paths, while sharing a common enthusiasm and support for Carroll.

There is an overwhelming opportunity to donate out there. The more we donate to various charities, the more requests come in daily from seemingly everywhere. While donating to a number of these, I continue to place Carroll at the top of my list. My contributions to an institution that motivates students to grow into contributing members of society has an exponential effect that is difficult to duplicate.

I have contributed to Carroll for decades, initially modestly, and have joined the Old Main Society in more recent years. Both my family and Carroll have given me the foundation that has allowed me to accomplish this. Giving through my estate plan via the 1846 Legacy Society is an easy and meaningful way for me to contribute to Carroll’s long-term success without affecting my daily lifestyle.
