As our Carroll admission guide escorted us back to Voorhees and a meeting with Shirley Hilger, my parents and I were impressed by how friendly folks were as we passed by them. Everyone said hello to us! I’ll be forever grateful to P.E. McAllister who was on our church session with my dad and suggested that we look at Carroll. Carroll checked all the boxes for a broad liberal arts curriculum: small campus, attentive professors, within a day’s drive from my home in Indianapolis, and so much more. I was sold before we even started the interview with Shirley. THIS was my school.
It’s safe to say that Carroll has influenced my life in so many ways. After graduation, I was hired by Carroll as one of its admissions counselors along with Scott Kohl and Philo Hutcheson. That job set me upon a career path that included 40 years in private education. My Carroll friends and the experiences I had on campus are true blessings, and I’m excited to celebrate our 50th (yikes!) class reunion.
My husband Chris and I attended small colleges. We both benefited from positive experiences and strong academic programs that were supported by alumni donors. Now, we believe it’s our turn to support the students of today and the future just like those alumni of the past did for us. To that end, we have included both of our colleges in our estate planning. Please consider including Carroll in your will. It is an easy way to say “Thank you” to Carroll.
