Jane Cross ’72 Supports Financial Aid with Gift from Her IRA

Jane Cross ’72

Carroll prepared me very well to be an elementary education teacher. Throughout my career as an educator, I observed firsthand the value of learning in my young students. It brought not only an empowerment to their knowledge base, but it also helped to shape their character and build their confidence.

Now that I am retired and a grandmother to four wonderful grandchildren (ages 6, 4, 3, and 2), I see a curiosity to learn and discover in all of them. My hope for them (and ALL children) is that their learning and enlightenment continues throughout their lives and that they will be able to receive a higher education through financial support and scholarships. After all, it is their future—and, ultimately, it is our future as well. Making a gift through my IRA allowed me to give to student financial aid more generously than I could otherwise.
